Choosing my Contents and Double Page Spread
i came up with the contents with more confident since it would be a single image with matching house colour with my screen so I came up with this.
My double page was focus on one single car and this is the best photo i got from my album.
This is the layout I've placed before I insert the Review passage.
Choosing Front Cover picture
This is the process of how I choose my front cover and end
up with a 90 degree drift to another photo.
This is what I did came up with later on, I
sketch out the car and try to use it as my front cover and it turned out like
this.
It
looks more like a night club poster so i decide not to use it.
This one the texts looks too tacky and un fitting to my theme. And the colour us not matching.
See that i should embrace the picture more since i took time taking it and its the main image so i decide to make it full page so it would look more dominant this is my 90 degree turn from what i planned at first.
Photo Shoot #1
As you can see here are a list of cars that will feature my final magazine first one is the BMW 420i
this is a convertible as you can see the roof can be open. I chose this car because firstly its available and its a convertible so i would have a variety of cars, on the left theres a is a image of this car in action which shows the front view and the second image down below is the back view of it these image is not yet edited but should do for now as an idea. There is much more but this is the select few for display, partially unusable due to various photography reasons, such as over expose and so on. These are the car that belong to my family so i am able to display the licences plate here otherwise i have to censor it due to privacy reasons. These are general shots just to show you the cars, the one on the right is a slightly high shot, the reason here is to show a bit of the interior as well as the exterior. As you can see this car has a red lether interior this shows that is a sports car since red could mean fast burring etc...
Moving down to the second one this is also another model from BMW this model is called the i8, its a hybrid sports car. There are many hybrid cars out there but they are just simple city cars that won't give you that amazing driving experience, this car can be driven in eco mode when you feel the urge to be economical, you canals driven in sports mode when you feel like unleashing 362 horsepower and don't care about nature. There are other hybrid sportscar (the McLaren P1 and the Porsche 918 are hypercars is is just for cars lover so i won't offend them by calling it a sports car) like the McLaren P1 and the Porsche 918 but since I'm unable to get a hold of it this is the car I've got. The reason i got this car is because firstly because it breaks the expectation of what people think of the hybrid car, when i mention a hybrid car people will think of some slow earth loving cars that goes as fast as a motored wheelchair but here a new innovation that goes faster than most full petrol engine cars.
second is because i had access to it thats all nothing much. The second image is to show the
door open. Please don't mind about the leg i didn't kidnap anyone, its just my classmate. Other than the door it also shows a part of the car's back lights trying to not reveal much but so there will be surprise in the final form.
The picture below is not a BMW obvioulsy but its a Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 a new front wheel drive car from Mercedes since the engine its in front they were able to give the car more power, if its a rear wheel drive it won't be able to produce the same amount of power i don't want to go too technical here so thats it. The reason i got this car is to make it more variable of cars in it since the both two car are BMW already so another car brand would be better so you would not get bored of the BMW. i also planning on getting another car in which is the Mini Cooper S which is a car for teenagers since it has nice colours small design and fast so it would fit teenage profile.

evo (Double Page Spread) Analysis #3
This is a double spread from 'evo' magazine it a magazine from UK, this Double Page Spread feature a classic Porsche 911. This is a very simple double page spread, and yet its capable of capture attention form you from you. On the bottom left corner of the largest image is a small text which is the credit of the photographer and the owner of the car. The top left side of the page features a big I this is to start of with confidence and how this car is to the the eye of car lovers, I also think that this I is to reflect humans simple desire is "I want". When most people saw a nice epic car what do they usually think, I can assure you that most people would think deep inside that they wanted the car, so I think this is to pull out peoples inner greed, because who wouldn't want a nice car for themselves. There are a text that is placed in the quotation mark this show that its a saying/quote form someone. This double page spread also features 2 more small images of the car which shows other part of the car, as shown above its the image of the sideways of the car when its in action and the next image is the image of the car's engine . The layout of this DPS is based on simplicity due to the fact that people who are in the market for classics cars are very like to be rich due to classic cars require a lot of maintenance and care also the parts are hard to find so it requires a lot of money top maintain it. Second reason is because they rich and they like classic cars its very likely that they are also into other classic things and most classic things are simple but elegant not flashy or complicated.

Wheels (Double Page Spread) Analysis #2
MOTOR TREND (Double Page Spread) Analysis #1
This is is a double page spread from 'MOTOR TREND' magazine from USA, this double page spread is made of one single photo of the new AUDI R8, taken from the back of another AUDI R8 this gives us how the front as well as the back of how it would look like. The text is white place on a grey background which makes it easier to read since the back ground would be dark grey to black. There is also a small picture of the fuel cap with R8 written on it, this is to tell us that which model it is just in case you don't know. The license plate also has the name of the model in it if you look carefully, this is a way that they use to tell the model it can be in letters, number or even both this is commonly use in car show and car magazine. On the top left it says "FIRST DRIVE|2017 Audi R8" is just simply telling us that its just release and this is the first drive of the new Audi R8. The text column on the bottom right is a review of the car written by the person who had first hand experience with the car. The title "(Nailing)The Follow-Up Album" nailing is o say that they are right on point, follow-up is a way to say that its increase it greatness, and album here is referring that the new Audi R8 is a piece of art. The smaller text on top is probably saying that the 2 gear kicks the hardest. The tiny words on top of this again is the person who commented this. Lastly the tiny text on the bottom left are credits of people who took a picture, provide the car, drove the car, crew etc...

My Magazine Analysis (Content Page)
This is the contents page the house style is grey, or more of simple colour which make it looks modern and simple. The page numbers are in gold-ish orange to fit to the gold writing on the front cover, there are 2 images here one with a girl(Janjao) relaxing listening to music to show that she is relaxing even thou she is at school. The text "Whatz zuppp" is using letters that is close 's' but doesn't sound like 's' and its like what teen agers like to use, this is to make it sound cooler that what is actually written like this "whats up" it sounded too boring so this is why i choose this. The layout of this is fairly simple and had bit of overlap, this is because when it looks simple its easier to read and more attractive since they are on books most of the day so school mag shouldn't be packed with too much words, the over lapping is to make it looks like a stick on so it looks more young and like a diary with stickers stuck on.

My Magazine Analysis (Front Cover)
This is my final school magazine this is my friend as the main image and the photo is taken by me. The photo is been touched little by photo shop but not in significant changes, colour tone here would be gold, grey and black to give a good impression on how nice, fancy and posh. The skyline says “Learning is not always the key to success". This links to Blumler and Katz ‘personal identity’ by helping them find out more about themselves sometimes learning is not the only way they can be success, to pull them from thinking that learning is the key to everything. The masthead ‘SUCCUBUS’ is a female demon that comes into your dream, but in this case its school is feminine in French so I chose this heading and it sounded like ‘School bus’ plus school is full of dream not just good but also bad which could sway you into the wrong direction if you are too weak minded. The puff with the word girl in black with half the circle as white and boys in white and half the circle as black is to show the reader that both gender could read and not be offended by sexist, also its saying even thou a girl looks nice, pretty, sexy or very seductive they might not be nice in the inside where boy who looks rough, mean, weird or tough they might be good in the inside. This doesn’t mean all girl is bad but instead its trying to tell that don’t judge people from the outside, people would thinks that this is sexist but not this is what people would think right away when they are told to describe a boy or a girl, simply what would you think of a girl pretty, for boys probably strong, so its not being sexist. The tagline is just giving a chance for less popular kids to feel more important this is also called ‘personal identity’, this is telling that perfect don’t just come easily, but you have to make it. So she is giving tip. I use tip instead of help is because helping is like giving them a had and bring them through in your way not actually teaching them to be perfect in their own way, because being perfect is being just right for your self not just right for other. The tagline and masthead are in gold because they are the main things on the front cover. But the skyline are in grey because if you are depress you would be likely to like dark tone colour in stead of bright colour, this also means that the skyline would give them hope that if they are not good in learning they are still able to be success. Which link to Blumler and Katz ‘diversion’ and ‘personal identity’ for diversion it will helps them think that they are successful in they way they want to, and for personal identity it helps identify what they are looking for in life not what their parents are looking for them.

Top Gear (Contents page) Analysis #3
This is a contents page from a magazine called 'Top Gear' is an automobile magazine owned by BBC Worldwide and published under contract by Immediate Media Company. It is named after the BBC's Top Gear television show. This contents page is more messy than the 'evo' one last post, as you can tell it aims at younger people, its more run to look at less serious and less formal, due to animated image over lapping and use of vibrant colours to highlight sub-headings. The font are mostly serif fonts to keep a small amount of formality, trustworthy, and telling this magazine is old as in full of experience. The word contents is written on the top right corner showing a more youthful, modern design. Pictures of cars are taken from the back is trying to imply if you don't read it or buy the car it will be driven away. Car finder on the most right hand side is just giving a page number of what car they review the cars are black out because, firstly it looks nicer, cleaner and less attractive, if it was in colour it would look like little spot of colour on the side since the car colour wont be the same and also it want you to open and see the actual car on the following pages not here on the contents. There are the 3 TV presenters on top of the 3 vertical images, the first one is Jeremy Clarkson on the left, Richard Hammond in the middle, and James May on the right. Below them are their quotes they are in black and white to keep the simple less attractive form. The 3 images are telling you the things in this magazine like Richard Hammond driving a car on top, comic about James May in the middle, and a review/commercial about the watch on the bottom.
evo (Contents page) Analysis #2
This is content page from an 'evo magazine'. The layout of the magazine is very clean with small texts due to it wants you to focus more on the but the content is on the left side of the page, with a heading of 'evo' in bold sans-serif, lower case and 'contents ' in a smaller serif font, both are in white as well as all the text in the contents page except the one on top of the Aston Martin Vulcan. The text on top of the Aston Martin is a caption saying 'It's one of those engine that you just want to rev and rev for the sake of it' (Rev means to accelerate in place)this means that the engine sound is so nice that you can't stop accelerate it. This is a double page content which over half of the page is dedicated to the Aston Martin Vulcan, this is just telling us how important the car is to this car magazine. The contents are divided in to 3 categories Feature, Regulars, and Driven. The small text lining the bottom is those credit, sponsors and social media about eve magazine. The main image the Aston Martin Vulcan in in the same colour as the production one there is also a green one and its possible that its the production since there will be only 24 Aston Martin Vulcan produce. This will be a brief infomation about the car, its classed as a 2-door coupé hypercar with a 7L V12 engine which produce 800 bhp (break horsepower). The camera angle use in this image is a low angle possibly by a camera man on a vehicle following it, this gives a clear view of the car but the background will be horizontally blur due to the vehicle is moving.
Wheels (Contents page) Analysis #1
This is a content page from a magazine called 'Wheels' its an Australian automotive magazine. They are publish by Bauer media group, this magazine is well known by Australians car enthusiasts.
Light grey/ white back ground shows simplicity and elegance so it doesn't attract all the attention from the cars. It features 2 cars the red one which is a Ferrari 488 GTB and the bark blue one which is a BMW 3 Series, both are a contrast to each other as well as the background which makes them stand out. The pages are grouped together under what its about, so people could see what they want to read. e.g if they want to read about reviews about cars on their first rides they would look at the topic 'first drives' and pick wha car they want to read about.
The main image is a red Ferrari 488 GTB which i said earlier its red because its Ferrari's distinctive colour, when we mention Ferrari people will usually think about a fast, expensive, red car, so this is why they choose red and its also flashy, eye catching. The BMW 3 series is more of a comfy elegance car, so its in dark blue which is more formal and less flashy.
The Ferrari is taken from high angel to show the engine at the back, its a rear wheel drive(only the 2 back whees is connect to the engine) car so showing that the engine is at the back means they don't need a join to connect the engine at the front to connect with the wheels at the back, this means that the car will be able to produce more power, rear wheels mean the car has better control than front wheel.
The BMW is been taken from a low angle to show its distinctive radiator grill, its a secondary image thats why its small and not very eye catching. The title is "Contents" serif font in bold sitting in the middle, and under theres is the date of the next issue telling the readers when it will be released its in grey, so it won't attract to much attention theres a red stripe on the left hand side witch fit in to the house style.

EVO (McLaren) Analysis #3
Media Studies Technology and Automobile Magazine Analysis of
Front Cover
EVO ’Birthday Special’
Organisation: EVO is own by Dennis Publishing. EVO first
issue was on November 1998. It was a monthly a magazine. This magazine is from
United Kingdom, but it also have various international edition for France,
Thailand, India, Singapore, Italy, Croatia, Czech Republic, and the Middle
East. The international editions will be slightly different from the original
one, due to contents will be more localise and more relevant to each respective
countries. This magazine usually features new supercars that are just release,
editors would usually be invited to test it out then review it. The person who read these magazine would be male at the age around 20-39.
Front Cover
Masthead: The
masthead of this magazine is bold and in lower case form, also the biggest text
in the front cover. The colour they use is goldish to create contras against
black background gold and black also create this luxurious, glamorous feel to
the front cover of the magazine. The masthead gives a feeling of it being add
on, being paste on later so it will give a feeling of contrast between the
masthead and the background. The letters are in lower case its because, upper
case is the final from of a letter so its going to show that is unable to
evolve anymore, but if it’s a lower case its like its still young and still be
able to evolve or still capable of being better no limit to the things they
could become.
Layout: The layout
of this magazine is fairly symmetrical, from the anchorage text to the bottom
of the magazine. This is because it’s trying to make the main image look
symmetrical to show how perfect both side of the car is. There are 2 cars on
top and 2 cars on the bottom so this is showing that it’s evenly distribute it
just showing the balance on this magazine. They have used 2 colour of text in
this magazine, this is to reduce the text tone from being too vibrant and
stealing the interest from the car. They sort this out nicely to make it as
clean as possible, cleanest in this way mean its luxurious, to say what is literally
mean is that yet its complicate, messy, a lot of pieces put together and looks
astonishing it still perform very well. It looks plain doesn’t mean it’s cheap.
Main Image: The
main image is an orange McLaren P1.This is a brief detail of the car, it’s
classed as a hypercar (supercar) it’s been put together in England and released
in 2013, this is the latest version of the model McLaren that is been released.
It has a twin-turbo 3.8L V8 engine plus McLaren’s electric ECU motor (Electrical
motor) which produce 903BHP (Break Horsepower). In simple terms crazy fast.
Back to the main image, the reason its orange is because is the first colour
they released the car in, plus its catchy looks fast, symbolize fire which is
hot, powerful, fast etc... The main
image is exactly in the middle of the magazine horizontally, it shows that the
car is symmetrical and to show the curves and angle of the car from the front,
to show how aerodynamic, sporty, angry it looks. The reason you are able it see
the passenger side of the cars is to show that you can bring some one important
with you too, and the reason the driver seat is black is because they don’t want
to make you see it as empty but to imagine that your inside and can’t be seen
be seen due to lightning so this links to Blumler and Katz both entertainment
and personal identity, starting with personal identity this image could
encourage people to encourage people by if they work hard enough they would be
able to afford this car, this is very unlikely but it’s just giving aim to
people who like it. Entertainment/escapism this is what I said earlier make
people imagine they are in the car, let them enjoy how nice the car looks (For
those who likes car) which help them relax from their stressful reality.
Camera Angle: the
angle they use is from a slightly high angle, from the angle when people will
look at car. This angle gives an impression of people actually seeing the car
in person which links to what I said earlier at main image, they also use
lights to reveal more curves of the car.
Anchorage Text:
first sentence says “Ringmaster” ring this means it’s in circle like a circuit and
master refers to as good, professional, expert as something. This is written in
white to show that is mature and not joking around, white is a more formal
colour than orange pink red. Second line says “McLAUREN P1 AT THE NÜRBURGRING”
this is telling that the McLaren is going to a well-known race track in Europe,
Germany this track is well known to people who likes cars as one of the most
devastating tracks in the world, many racers have lost their life there. The third
line says that “Riding on the wildest supercar ever, on the world’s most fearsome
track” firstly the use words that are not positive or negative but just
implying that the car is wild which means it has an overflow of power ready to
unleash, when they say the world’s most fearsome track gives the reader the
feeling that its complex, scary, accomplishable, mission impossible stuff.
Puff: In this case
a luxurious puff “evo car of the year 2013 award… (List of famous cars) One
winner…” this makes people want to know which of these awesome car will win the
car of the year and one winner at the end implies that only one will be on top
of the list there will not be a tie. Car of the year is in white is because
they want to like shout in out but in a more appropriate way, so the colour
tone won’t be ruin. And the rest of the text remain gold to create contras in
the puff.
Tagline: “The Thrill
Of Driving” this implies that driving is an excitement and a pleasure when you
like it.
